March is Massachusetts Maple Month

Each year, we celebrate the agricultural awakening of the Bay State by emphasizing the importance of maple production. "March is Massachusetts Maple Month" is a month-long celebration of "all things maple" in Massachusetts. Many local sugarhouses will be open for tours and pancake breakfasts.

A kickoff event at a host sugarhouse with the Commissioner of Agriculture participating in a ceremonial tree tapping begins each season, as newspapers and TV stations cover the month-long event.

The 2008 Maple Month kick-off event is at 10 AM Friday March 7, at Turtle Lane Maple Farm, 25 Turtle Lane, North Andover, MA 01845 For more information, call 978-258-2889, or email info@turtlelanemaplefarm.com

The event is sponsored by the Massachusetts Maple Producers' Association in conjunction with the Massachusetts Department of Food and Agriculture.
